# How the Medvento referral program works: refer a society, earn a free month

> Share your Medvento referral code or link with another society. When it signs up and pays within 30 days, you earn a free month on your paid term.

When you refer another society to Medvento, you earn **one free month** on your paid term if that society signs up with your code or link and pays for its first plan **within 30 days**. The free month is added automatically **60 days after their payment**. Find your code and link on the **Refer a society** card on the Billing page. Owners can see and share it.

## How it works
1. Open **Billing** and find **Refer a society**. It shows **Your code** and **Your link**. The link takes people to the sign-up page with your code filled in.
2. Select **Copy link** or **Share on WhatsApp**. The WhatsApp message says your organization invites them to try Medvento for their society's events.
3. The other society signs up with your link or code.
4. If its checkout starts within **30 days of its sign-up**, it qualifies on its **first** plan payment.
5. **60 days after that payment**, one free month is added to your paid term, automatically. Medvento emails the owners of your organization.

If you are on Free, or your plan has lapsed when the month would be added, it is **banked** and added when you next pay. It is held while your account is suspended, and an admin can attach a referral within 30 days of a society's sign-up.

## Rules

### What the card shows for each referral

A detail line can replace the status, such as "Free month added on" a date, "Free month expected around" a date, "It will be added when you next pay for your plan", or "On hold while your account is suspended".

If the card says "We're recording your referrals now. Rewards will start soon", signups and qualifications are tracked, but free months are not being added yet. Free months already granted still show.

## Your code
Your code is 4 to 20 letters and numbers, created from your organization's name. Owners can select **Regenerate code**. Your **current link and code stop working**, and anyone who has not signed up yet needs the new one. Confirm with **Regenerate code**, or select **Keep code**.
