A Medvento event page is built from blocks. This guide lists every block in the **Add a block** gallery, what it is for, what you can enter, the limits that apply, which blocks fill themselves from your event, and which two blocks need a consent tick before you can publish (Contact persons and Gallery). Blocks that have nothing to show hide themselves, so an empty block never appears as a gap on the public page.

## How blocks work
Hover between blocks and select **+** to open **Add a block**, then choose a type. Hover a block and select the pencil (**Edit**) to change it. Read [how to build and publish an event page](https://medvento.com/docs/event-pages/build-event-page) for the basics.

<img alt="The Add a block dialog scrolled to the lower block types: Agenda, Hero, Registration Form, Venue & map, Downloads, People grid, Contact persons, Welcome message, Card grid, Fee table, Key dates, Gallery, Video and Latest news." src="__img0" />

* **23 block types** are available on an event page. "Individual" and "Social media" are listed as "Coming soon" and cannot be added yet.
* **Events** is a website-only block and is not available on event pages.
* **Faculty, Agenda and Registration Form** are event-only blocks.
* **Replace** swaps a block for another type and does **not** carry the old content or colours over.

### Options every block shares
The edit panel of most blocks has a **Shade** setting to pin the block's own background (Auto, Plain, Light, and Dark where offered) and a **Typography** setting for the block's heading and body size. Some blocks do not offer Dark, because their cards or portraits need a light background to stay readable. The Hero has no shade setting. The Image Only block has no heading size.

### Uploading images
Wherever a block takes an image (Text + Image, Image Only, Venue & map, Sponsor Logos, People, Contact persons and Welcome message photos):

* Formats are **PNG, JPG, GIF or WEBP, up to 5 MB**.
* A **Crop & adjust image** window lets you set zoom (1 to 3 times) and brightness (50 to 150 percent). The result is saved as a JPEG.
* Photos of people are cropped to a square.

## Blocks that fill themselves from your event
These blocks read from other tabs, so you edit the source, not the block.

| Block | Reads from | When it hides itself |

For Faculty and Agenda, **leave everyone ticked** to always show everybody, including people added later. You cannot untick the last person.

## The Table block
The Table block shows a simple grid of text, such as a fee or timetable. **You do not type commas or line breaks.** You fill in a grid that works like a small spreadsheet:

1. Under **Table columns & rows**, the top row of boxes holds the **column names**. They become the header row of the published table.
2. Each row below is one data row, with one box per column.
3. Select **+** (Add column) to add a column to every row, or the bin icon above a column to remove it from every row.
4. Select **Add row** to add a row, or the bin icon beside a row to remove it.
5. At least one column always remains, and rows and columns can never get out of step.

Type amounts and dates as plain text, for example a fee with its currency. A table with column names and no rows is allowed. A table with no columns shows "No table columns yet."

**Use the Fee table, not the Table block, for registration fees.** The Fee table reads your real tickets and prices, so it cannot go out of date.

## The Hero block
The Hero is the large opening banner. On an event page you set an **eyebrow** (small label), a **heading** (required), a **subheading**, and a **button** with its text and link. Its look comes from the Template you chose in the Design tab. See [event page branding](https://medvento.com/docs/event-pages/event-page-branding).

## Blocks for people
| Block | What it is | Key limits |
| --------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| People grid | Cards or a compact list of people, such as office bearers | Up to 150 people and 20 groups per block. Name up to 120 characters, role and city up to 80, term up to 20. "Show before Show all": 1 to 150 (default 10) |
| Contact persons | Cards with Call, WhatsApp and Email buttons, plus an optional secretariat card | Up to 6 people. Each needs a phone or an email |

To add many people at once to a People grid, use **Paste a list**: one person per line as name, role, city. Tabs work too, so you can paste from a spreadsheet. Anything after the city is added to the city.

### Contact persons and consent
Contact persons shows phone numbers and email addresses publicly. Medvento therefore blocks publishing, and blocks saving a page that is already live, until you tick: **"These people agreed to have their contact details published on this page."** Read it as a promise you are making. Details:

* The tick is stored with the page, so it applies to that page only.
* It appears in the first Contact persons block and covers every Contact persons block on the page.
* No tick is needed while the page lists nobody.
* Indian phone numbers need no +91. An invalid number is refused. A WhatsApp button needs the "Same number on WhatsApp" box ticked.
* The secretariat card takes an address (up to 4 lines), opening hours (120 characters), a phone and an email.

The People grid has no consent tick, but it shows names and photos too. Get each person's agreement before you list them.

## Media blocks
| Block | What it is | Limits |
| --------- | ------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Gallery | A photo gallery with optional albums | Up to 200 photos per block, 25 MB each, JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 40 megapixels. Up to 30 albums. Captions up to 160 characters |
| Video | YouTube videos | Up to 6 videos. Title up to 120 characters, duration up to 12 characters (for example 12:34), caption up to 200 |
| Downloads | PDF files to download | PDF only, up to 15 MB each, 40 files per block. Title up to 150 characters |

### Gallery and consent
Photos of delegates can identify people, so publishing is blocked until you tick: **"These photos are ours to publish, and attendees were informed."** New photos show "New, needs consent", and uploading new photos clears the tick again. The tick lives in the first Gallery block and covers every Gallery block on the page.

Photos are stored at three sizes, and their location and camera details are removed.

### Video
Only YouTube links work (youtube.com, youtu.be and Shorts). Nothing is loaded from YouTube until a visitor presses play. You may add your own poster image, which must be one you own or have permission to use.

### Downloads
The file must really be a PDF: Medvento checks the content, not just the name. You can group files, sort by newest or by your own order, and mark a file **New** for 14 days. The first N files show and the rest fold behind "Show all" (1 to 40, default 8).

## Information blocks
| Block | What it shows | Limits |
| ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Venue & map | Venue card with "Get directions" and "Copy address" | Up to 6 travel lines, each with a label (80 characters) and distance or time (60). No map is embedded, so nothing loads from Google until a visitor taps Get directions |
| Fee table | Tickets as rows and price slabs as columns | Heading 120 characters, note under the table 600 characters |
| Key dates | A countdown plus a timeline | Up to 20 dates of your own |
| Card grid | Cards for hotels, places to visit, workshops, awards, journal or chapters | Up to 24 cards. Title 120 characters, description 160 |
| Latest news | The newest published news posts | 1 to 10 posts, default 3 |

### Fee table
You type no prices into this block. Rows are your ticket tiers and columns your price slabs, taken from the “Pricing” tab. Options let you show past slabs struck through, show a CME hours badge, and show a Register button. The **note under the table** is the only place for tax wording, because Medvento adds no GST line for you. If you add a second link, fill in both its label and address, or neither.

### Key dates
Turn on or off the countdown, the registration and slab deadlines, and the abstract window. Add up to 20 dates of your own, each with a title (120 characters) and an optional line under it (160). Past dates show struck through unless you tick "Hide past dates".

### Card grid
Choose a **preset** (Hotels, Places to visit, Workshops, Awards, Journal or Chapters). A preset only renames and shows or hides card fields, and switching keeps what you typed. Choose one **media** style for all cards: Photo, Cover, Icon or None. A card with no title blocks Save. Links must be https addresses or page paths; on an event page, section links starting with # are not allowed.

### Latest news
Choose **This event's news** or **All news**. Write and publish posts in News. A post appears until its hide-after date.

## Blocks that never show an empty shell
FAQ, List, Image Only and Sponsor Logos show a short message when empty, but most other blocks simply do not appear on the public page until they have content. The editor tells you, for example, "The block stays hidden on the page until the message is written." The pre-publish checks list blocks that will be hidden.

## Frequently asked questions
### How do I enter rows and columns in the Table block?
Use the grid. Type column names in the top row, add rows with Add row and columns with the plus button. You do not use commas or line breaks.

### Which blocks need a consent tick before I can publish?
Contact persons and Gallery. Each needs one tick per page, stored with that page.

### Why is my block not showing on the live page?
Blocks with nothing to show hide themselves. Check the block's source: tickets for the Fee table, the venue in Basics for Venue & map, faculty for the Faculty block.

### Can I show prices in a Table block?
You can type them as text, but the Fee table is better because it stays in step with your real tickets.
