How to receive and verify a CME certificate from a Medvento event

How delegates get a CME certificate by email, what to do if it does not arrive, and how anyone can check a certificate is genuine with its QR code.

After an event run on Medvento ends, the organizing society's certificates are issued automatically. You receive an email titled Your CME certificate for followed by the event name, with the certificate attached as a PDF, usually within about 10 minutes of the event being closed out, and sometimes longer for large events. Every certificate carries a QR code, and anyone can scan it to confirm the certificate is genuine. This guide is for delegates and for anyone who needs to verify a certificate. Organizers should read how to issue certificates.

Before you start

  • You must have been registered for the event and recorded as attending: either checked in by the organizers, or by scanning a session QR code.
  • Use the email address you registered with. The certificate is sent there.

Step 1: Find the email

The email is titled Your CME certificate for the event name. If the society uses its own certificate title, the subject uses that title instead. The message says "Thank you for attending" the event, shows the hours (for example 6 hours or 6 points) and your certificate number, and has the PDF attached. The file is named after the event.

The certificate number looks like KSC-26-27-000001: the society's code, the financial year and a running number.

Step 2: If it does not arrive

  1. Check your spam or junk folder.
  2. Wait a little. Certificates are issued in batches and can take longer for a large event.
  3. Make sure you used the same email at registration.
  4. Ask the organizers to resend it. Medvento has no download page for delegates, so the email is your only copy. Save the PDF somewhere safe when it arrives.

The organizers need your attendance to be recorded. If it was not, ask them to check you in.

If you receive a corrected certificate

The organizers can replace a certificate that has a mistake. The new email says it replaces the old number and that the old certificate no longer verifies. Discard the old one and keep the new one.

How to verify a certificate

Each certificate has a QR code. To check it:

  1. Scan the QR code with a phone camera, or open the link printed with it. The address begins with medvento.com/verify/.
  2. The page shows one of three results.
ResultWhat you see
Valid certificate"This certificate was issued by" the organization, with the name it was awarded to, the event, its dates, the credit, the certificate number, the issue date and the issuing organization
Revoked, replaced by a newer certificate"This certificate is no longer valid." It shows the number of the replacement
This certificate can't be verifiedNo certificate was found for the link

The verify page shows only what was printed on the certificate. You do not need to sign in.

If it says it cannot be verified

The link may have been copied wrongly, or the certificate may no longer be available, for example if the delegate asked for their data to be deleted. Certificates issued before verification codes were introduced do not carry a QR code. Ask the issuing society, or write to support@medvento.com.

Privacy

The verification page shows your name, the event, its dates, the credit hours and the certificate number to anyone who has the link. The registration form tells you this before you register. Keep your certificate's link private if you do not want it checked by others. To ask for your data to be shown or deleted, use the data request form on the society's pages. Even after a deletion request, a minimal record of your CME credit is kept for six years after the event so that your credit can be verified.
